Thimble, a very successful Kickstarter startup, is a subscription service that delivers DIY electronics kits. These kits allow to create fun, electronic devices with guided tutorials and helpful community.

Our task was to design packaging for two boxes, one for the main product (various electronic details to construct devices, robots etc.) another for the tools. The main requirement was to use minimalistic design but with some degree of playfulness. We had to decorate two boxes almost the same, with a slight difference using brand colors - orange and white.

We painted the whole box in orange color and used white color for the text and patterns. Thus, the box appears very bright, playful and maintains the idea of minimalism at the same time. In the center of the front side we have put company’s logo and name and surrounded them with joyful patterns, which consist of little pictures of various robots and devices. It serves for two purposes. Firstly, it reflects the content of the box. Secondly, it adds the feeling of creative and fun chaos, engaging customers to open the box and find out what details are waiting for them this time and what incredible devices are going to be made.
